Caffrey Presents at the Western Energy Institute (WEI) Forum
Hammonton, NJ – April 2006 – Michael Caffrey was a featured speaker at the Western Energy Institute (WEI) Annual Utility Executives Forum held April 5-7, 2006 in Newport Beach California. The 35 year utility industry veteran and emergency restoration expert discussed the finer points of utility Mutual Assistance. Caffrey’s remarks covered a range of issues, including managing mutual assistance personnel, assembling personnel for the trip, convoying equipment and personnel, communications between mutual assistance teams in and the corporate headquarters back in Washington, DC.
Caffrey was responsible for convoying and managing utility crews and damage assessment teams from a major northeast utility as they headed south to provide mutual assistance to the afflicted areas following hurricane’s Katrina and Rita. His efforts helped decrease restoration times and serve as the model for effective storm restoration. Caffrey has been recognized across the industry as somewhat of a planning pioneer. Today, he serves as Vice President of Emergency Preparedness Partnerships (EPP)
