Eileen Unger, founder and President of Hammonton, NJ-based Emergency Preparedness Partnerships, has been nominated and selected for induction into the Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame (Business Entrepreneur category).  The Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame recognizes and honors outstanding women that have contributed to, and served as a role model for, the advancement, enhancement and enrichment of women within Atlantic County, NJ.  To learn more about the Atlantic County Women’s Hall of Fame, visit http://acwhf.org/.

Eileen is a natural fit to receive such a prestigious honor. She has served as a spokesperson for emergency preparedness strategies within Atlantic County’s and New Jersey’s disaster planning communities for nearly two decades, and through these efforts has received 7 Congressional, Legislative and Freeholder ceremonial resolutions or proclamations for her leadership and many contributions to her field.

Additionally, she has received numerous awards and recognitions as a direct result of her unique standing as a woman entrepreneur and business owner in the field of emergency preparedness.  These include:

By excelling in a business that is dominated by men, Eileen serves as an instant role model for all women, and as such she is acutely committed to “paying it forward” by virtue of her unwavering dedication to the professional community both within and beyond Atlantic County.

Eileen is an active member of the National Association of Women Business Owner’s South Jersey Chapter (Past President), the New Jersey Emergency Preparedness Association, American Society of Industrial Security, the New Jersey Utilities Association, the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey, the Contingency Planning Exchange, and served on the American Heart Association Go Red for Women Executive Committee. She was also appointed to the NJ State Industrial Safety Committee by the Commissioner of the Department of Labor and Workforce Development.

In the final analysis, when you are one of the first or only women to achieve success in a traditionally male field, there is pressure to perform with grace while being subjected to constant scrutiny.  And Eileen has certainly performed with grace under pressure.  Simply put, Eileen is knowledgeable, experienced and well-respected, and is a nationally-recognized expert in the field of utility emergency preparedness.  But most importantly, she has demonstrated success in a business dominated by men, enabling her to serve as a unique role model for all women who need to break through traditional barriers to realize their dreams and aspirations.
